I do lots of work for remote clients. We communicate by e-mail, fax, phone, ftp, or whatever it takes to get the job done right. I have my own office and provide my own software and computer equipment.

I usually work on a 1099 basis, but can occasionally work on a W-2 for the right project. I can bid by the hour or by the project (if the project scope is well-defined).

My time is often booked in advance. I am most likely to accept a project that involves writing about an interesting technology or that would give me the chance to learn some new tool or skill.

I'm not interested in full-time employment. I typically have several clients at once. I find I work much more quickly than the industry average.
